Brooklyn Homebrew and Sycamore Bar + Flower Shop are excited to announce the new and improved format of the Brooklyn Wort. We will continue to host an open house style competition where judges and guests will taste the homebrews and meet the brewers. In the past, the brewers who participated were either first to register or randomly picked. In the new format, brewers will be asked to submit bottles to a preliminary qualifying round. During this qualifying round, will select the top 25 brewers to attend and compete in the Brooklyn Wort. Judges score sheets for this round, will not be available. The beers that will be introduced and served at the Brooklyn Wort do not need to be the same beers that were submitted for entry in the preliminary round. We are confident this will ensure that everybody has an equal chance of being selected and that the beers tasted at the Brooklyn Wort are some of the best quality.

February 8th – Deadline for bottles to be submitted for the preliminary qualifying round.
February 15th – Top 25 brewers will be selected and announced.
April 28th – Brooklyn Wort
Only submit one bottle per person. Beer must be submitted in an UNMARKED bottle.

You must print and complete the label, wrap the label around the bottle with a rubber band, and drop off your bottle to either Brooklyn Homebrew or Sycamore.
The drop off period will occur from Wednesday, February 1st through Wednesday, February 8th.
*There is a $5 cash entry fee that must be submitted with your bottle.

Any style of beer will be accepted. The winner will be based on the best overall beer. There will be no style guidelines. The total prize money is $1,000. This includes $800 for the Judges Panel and $200 for the People’s Choice Award.
Once selected to participate in the Brooklyn Wort, the amount of beer required at the competition is 5 gallons. Beer can be brought in various size bottles or by keg. All equipment used to serve beer (ie, buckets, tap setup, etc.) will need to be provided by the brewer the day of the event. We will provide ice to keep your beer cold and buckets to pour out previous beers.
